The Moore Stampede

Sunday was the annual Moore Stampede. That's what I call it anyway... Every fall after the crops are harvested, the men puts some of their cattle in the big fields. They stay there during the winter and eat the left over crops. Then before they get ready to start planting they move the cattle. It's a big deal because they have to herd them out of the fields, down the main road a little ways, and herd them along another field and then into the pasture. This year went pretty smooth. Only one big bull wanted to be a butt and not cooperate. But they handled it. I always like to watch this, so this year I was the picture taker. Now remember, Sunday morning we woke to snow on the ground. The temp wasn't too bad at 1:30 but the wind was so cold! I put on about three layers, a hat to cover my ears, and gloves; I was ready to go! I stayed in the back of Uncle John's truck most of the time taking pictures. Some of them were a little blurry b/c I was taking pictures while the truck was in motion. I tell ya, being the photographer is not always fun and games... But I had a blast! It's amazing to watch these guys in action.

Snow in March?

Snow in March? Well, you be the judge of that.... It may look like a heavy frost, but no, it's actual snow! Jimmy woke me up Sunday morning telling me we had snow on the ground. Well, I jumped up b/c I wanted to take pictures b/f it melted. From what I've heard areas north of us got much more snow. But it was fun. I hope my camelia bush survives... The horses had fun, too... Later that day we had the annual Moore's Stampede (that's what I call it....). I'll post pictures of that tomorrow.

Sunday Fun!

Andrew and Kate riding

David and Daniel roping

Kate and Jimmy riding.

Yesterday was a beautiful day even though the wind was chilly! Too pretty to stay indoors! Jimmy and his brother, David, went in together and bought a new saddle on Saturday. So yesterday, they had to test it out. Daniel (Jimmy's cousin) and David decided to rope some. This was the first time for Kate to ride a horse, she really enjoyed it. As for me, I enjoy taking the pictures. I love horses!! Just not riding them. I thought I would eventually enjoy riding them. But every time I get on one I look down and just get woozie and think, "man it would really hurt if I fall". So, I enjoy watching everyone else enjoy!!

Chocolate & a Gator, What More Could a Girl Want?

My little nieces, Kate (2 1/2) and Claire (8 months) got themselves a Gator. Right now, Kate is the only person who can enjoy it, but give it another year. Her and Claire will be fighting who gets to drive! My brother-in-law, Hugh, just got back from a trip to New York and he got Kate the world's largest hershey kiss. Least to say, Kate had a good day! Hugh got Andrew (nephew, 12) some extremely sour candy. Usually on the sour candies, once you suck the sour stuff off the rest is actually good. But this type had a middle layer of sour, yuck! I tried the watermelon flavor, too chicken to try the lemon! All of us were puckered up!!

This Weekend

Had a good weekend! Friday afternoon I went to my sister's house to babysit the "wild bunch" while she and her husband went on a religious conference. We all had a good time. We played basketball, ate pizza and watched a movie. Saturday Buck went back home with me. The main thing he thought was cool was riding the Rhino. We rode to a bridge down the road from our house and looked over to see if we saw any snakes. Then we drove to a big field and I let him drive. As long he didn't hit a cow, we was good. He thought he was really cool! As you can see in the pic, the dust was getting in his eyes and he HAD to wear my sunglasses. Later that night we went to Jennifer and Jereme's house and ate with the rest of the cousins. We always have a good time when we all get together. Above is a pic of Buck driving the Rhino, and a pic of Elizabeth (my sister-in-law) and me. This weekend I was introduced to Facebook... My sister has high speed internet, I have only dial up.... But I spent about 2 hours on Facebook. Love it!! I haven't been on it since Saturday because my old computer is so slow! But, for my birthday (which is Saturday) Jimmy got me a laptop. We went to Best Buy last night and got it. So, I'm hoping my dial up will be a lot faster with this new computer so that I can maybe get on Facebook tonight and see who all I can find! I'll let y'all know!

Happy Birthday Tracy!

Today is my sister's birthday, Tracy. Happy Birthday Tracy! How old are you??? 39??? Yes, that's correct, next year we'll have to celebrate her BIG 40! Someone once told me that the older you get the faster time goes by. That is so true! In a couple of weeks I'll be 36!! But hey, getting older is better than the alternative! Above is a picture of Tracy and I taken last year. I wish I had a picture of us as kids. I'll have to find one and scan it in and post it. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TRACY!! Love your little sis!

Super Bowl Sunday!

I know it's been over two weeks since my last blog, but I really have not had much of anything going on.... I hope everyone had a great weekend and a great Super Bowl Sunday. How many watched the Super Bowl? I had no intentions of watching the Super Bowl. Jimmy and I wasn't cheering for any particular team but we started watching it and ended up watching the entire game and some of the after game stuff. I'm not a big football fan (sports is not my thing....). When there is a team I'm cheering for I get so nervous, my stomach start hurting, and I end up walking away from the game and just catch the ending score. I just can't handle all of the anxiety! And it just tears me up when my team doesn't win. So I usually don't watch any of it.... But last night, since we wasn't rooting for any particular team, Jimmy and I had a good relaxing night. At one point we was rooting for the Steelers, then at another point we were rooting for the Cardinals. Then at the end, after that touchdown by Holmes, we were glad that the Steelers won. Basically it was a fight for who wanted it the most! Before the game we went to Jimmy's brother's house. We had a great time playing with Andrew, Kate and Claire. Above are a few pictures of last night. One picture is of Andrew with something on his back and Kate riding. That is called a "Daddle". It's a saddle that you but on your back. Poor Andrew, he put the Daddle on and had to give Kate a ride. Andrew is such a great big brother! Another picture is of Jimmy and Kate with a nerf gun. They were in a gun fight with Andrew (he had the other gun). Sweet little Claire is getting so big. She's crawling everywhere! Elizabeth stood her up on the side of the couch. She can stand there as long as she's holding on, but she doesn't know what to do with her feet yet. It's just a matter of time..... I hope everyone had a great weekend. Hopefully, it won't be another two weeks before I post again....

Christmas Deer

I know it's way past Christmas. But, I've had these pictures on my camera and just haven't taken the time to add them to my computer. But at our house, Christmas Day was a dreary kind of day. It rained basically all day. While I was in the kitchen, cleaning of course, I looked out my window and noticed we had some visitors in our back yard. Two deer were taking a rest. They stayed there forever. I took many pictures, then I got brave and opened our back door and took a few more before they finally mosied out in the woods. They didn't jump up and run away when they saw me. In fact, one deer stood there for a moment and just looked at me. It was really awsome to just watch these deer. I hope you can see these pictures. If not, then just click on the picture and it will blow it up for you.

Nicholas Quincy Moore

We have a new addition to the Moore family! Nicholas Quincy Moore arrived on 01/03/09 at 12:38 a.m. weighing 7 lbs and 12 oz and 19 1/4" long. Mark (dad), Sarah (mom) and big brother Benjamin along with Nicholas are doing fine. They live in Holley, Michigan so we just can't hop in the car and go see them. My in-laws are leaving tomorrow headed up there. Hopefully Jimmy and I can make a trip up there this summer! Benjamin loves being a big brother. As you can see in the above picture, he looks like he is just beaming! But, he just can't seem to understand why Nicholas can't get down on the floor and play cars with him or why Nicholas can't watch movies with him. When he became a big brother he thought he would automatically have a play partner and Nicholas would automatically be able to do things with him. But that's how life is. It's in our human nature to want and want it now.... I think patience is the most clever thing God has made. He doesn't work on our time, but he works on his time. And a lot of the times, just like a parent, he doesn't give us everything we want. And what do we do? We say "but why?" Isn't it funny how we adults act like that crying child, wanting everything, to our holy parent, God? This year hopefully I can whine less and be more patient!

New Year!

Even though I was off work, I has a busy holiday! The week of New Year I went back to Philly to visit my cousins who were down from Tennessee. It was great seeing all of them, especially Mia and Braxton. They are growing up so fast! For Christmas I got Mia a My Little Pony. The pony came with a 30 minute dvd. I don't know if they're still watching the dvd, but while I was there, they watched it about 3 times. I got Brax the police car from the movie Cars. You have to shake it to "crank it up" and it says something then takes off. It was fun the watch them. It was great to see my cousin, Brian. He and his wife, Leanne, moved up the Nashville a few years ago. She got accepted into nursing anestetic school (I know that's not how you spell it....). She has one more year and hopefully they're back to MS! At least that's what Brian says, he misses Mississippi a lot! That night we cooked hamburgers on the grill and then had a mean game of Yatzee. It was the first time my mom played Yatzee, but she got the hang of it. One New Year's Eve Jimmy and I went to a cooking at my boss' house. It was only 6 of us there, but we had a great time. Jimmy goes to bed at 9:00 so when he stayed up until 11:30, I was shocked!! We both didn't make it to midnight, but oh, well.... The new year still came... I hope all of y'all had a great and safe new year. We'll have to wait and see what 2009 holds for us! Hope y'all have a wonderful 2009!
